Take 2 Markets

Today's Random shit, Chez post is a work in progress. Story is I did a market; Take 2 Markets to be precise. It was a last minute thing as my friend Xing who had the stall booked had something else come up- yadi yadi yaddah. Long story short, I spent all the money I earnt on things I could not resist; like these Mickey Mouse ears.
Random shit, Chez!

I haven't quite worked out the moral of this random shit, yet. However I maintain that this is something that will keep me warm in Melbourne's blustery winter. I particularly like the pom pom tie detail and the fact that these babies have gold glitter all the way through them which adds an extra level of interest, you know; because they needed that ;)
Amazing shit      Photo credit: Take 2 Markets
I also bought this vintage 1950s frock from a lady with whom I had such a great chat that we exchanged email addresses. Imagine my shock when a few days later I received an email from one Rachel Berger; someone with the same whole name as an old neighbour of ours... Turns out that the lady who had sold me this frock, is indeed our old neighbour AND THE COMEDIAN, Rachel Berger, who had worn this frock in her promo pics which made the rounds...
The green dress~ and Rachel Berger as she wore it !
How's this for a story, this very pic of Rachel in green frock; used to be on our fridge! Amazing. It's been lovely to email Rachel and hear more on her story. Nnow I can't wait to wear the dress and continue its story - maybe to see Rachel at her next performance? ;)

Food before Fashion vs Fashion as Food?

Random shit, Chez!
In episode 4 of the hit series, Sex & the City, the fashionista-sex-writer Carrie Bradshaw famously said, "When I first moved to New York and I was totally broke, sometimes I would buy Vogue instead of dinner. I felt it fed me more. "

Now Random shit, Chez! loves a tutu as much as the next Carrie-wannabe but this is not the kind of doctrine I adhere to, at all. As such, in this installment of Random shit, Chez! we swan through the glamour of the 2011 L'Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival where I've potentially committed the fashion faux-pas of being photographed with an accessory that makes a statement of the un-fashionista-popular variety; FOOD!

Figure 2. When photographed with lovely Lou and super-ace Kate Langbroek as part of the Nova 100 competition I won because I dressed up as a piñata; I'm holding a proscuitto-wrapped-grissini.

Figure 3. Fashionista friends have bolted for the show; I'm making sure I'm fuelled up prior to Runway 5.

The moral of this Random Shit, I think, is that a girl needs to make sure she's looking after herself by not going hungry! Thoughts??

Figure 4. What a delight! Fabulous food AND Nova 100 fashionistas Lauren Brain and Kate Langbroek- the two are not mutually exclusive, at all! ;)

Penthouse Mouse Play

This evening's Random shit, Chez! post comes from Penthouse Mouse - one of the very schmick events part of this year's L'Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival (LMFF). Full of designers, accessories and artists - I went to cover the event for Business Chic and (small)lust but couldn't resist having a play with the works on offer myself.

Random shit, Chez!
The moral of this random shit is that playing with art installations is fun but having a friend who can take ace photos is even better!! - thanks Kealey!

Oh and check out Penthouse Mouse - Shed 4, Docklands - on as part of LMFF now until March 20.
PS: Thank you Elgar & Lyle for my necklace - I'm finding it much fun also! :-)

I see naked people

Today was a sunny day in Melbourne. My friend Kealey and I went for a cycle. We saw naked people. Watch the clip for more:

The moral of this random shit is to always keep a tube of sunscreen or zinc handy; one never knows when one might need to demonstrate in the nude. Blokes may have use for a single sock, also...

Nice work to all those who demonstrated - also highlighting the vulnerability of cyclists on the road - Random shit, Chez! salutes you!

PS: Kealey has footage from an alternate view, tune into her Thelma mag blog for her perspective on this event;)

This piñata is going to LMFF with Nova 100!

Too funny. As a fashion blogger, I'm trying to get media accreditation through my main blog Business Chic and am doing all the traditional things about it; applying through the relevant PR, attending briefings... However when I saw that Nova 100 were holding an Out Gaga, Gaga competition, the prize being going to L'Oréal Melbourne Fashion Festival's Paris Runway 3 with Nova 100's Kate and Lauren Brain; well I entered my piñata costume. And how's this for random shit; I won!
On the phone to Kate & Hughesy, my random piñata costume winning me tickets to LMFF Paris Runway Show 3!

Designers in this uber-swanky show include Arthur Galan AG, Bianca Spender, camilla and marc, Carl Kapp, Flannel, LIFEwithBIRD, Lisa Ho and personal hero of mine, Yeojin Bae.

The moral of this Random shit, Chez! post is to always have a go, no matter how mad it might seem! The new challenge is, do I show up wearing a piñata costume? I do need to photograph streetstyle for one of my clients beforehand; what will fashion types think of being approached by a human piñata?? I'd love your thoughts, simply share your thoughts via the comments here on our Facebook!

PS: Thank you to the ace random strangers who took 2/3 of the above photos =)
